A team of 7 DIVs ventured out to the Indonesian island of Bali to partake in the third instalment of the DIV Golf Tour series.
Participants:
Oli Brown
Rich Sellers
Phil Doyle
Kenny Hegarty
Tom Chambers
George Rhodes
Aido Crowley
The reflections on this trip can be summarised under the following four headings:
1. Similarities with other DIV tours:
- Long bus drives and terrible traffic congestion still allow for some decent entertainment
- No amount of new golf gear will create consistent golf
- Rich is desperate for a new phone
- Leaving copious amounts of alcohol in the fridge at the end of the trip is now a pre requisite
- George’s ability to woo the natives by organising great breakfasts is never in doubt
- Tom’s phenomenal vocal range (whilst awake and asleep) is unmatched
- Post trip anxiety is real
2. Excellent additions to this DIV tour:
- Compulsory dress code throughout the trip was a master stroke and was adhered to by all
- Subtle personalised Jewelry added flair, although be warned it can confuse even the most ardent DIV members if they are late to the party
- Compulsory villa pool wear helps a team bond (all the above are excellent additions by Oli Brown)
- Afternoon tee times are a winner
- Guided meditation is good for the soul
- 5* secluded villas with easy entrance and exit points is a must
- The Blue Spot Trophy is for the dedicated few
- Opening ceremonial dinners (with Timmy)
- The ostrich putter
- Rest days
3.Things we have learnt:
- K is for Canada
- Phil has a penchant for different cuisines including local dishes, Latina and even Russian.
- Not all caddy’s like Kenny
- Aido is a better dancer than he is a gymnast
- Bali belly is not a myth although Tom has found that the origins of some waterborne diseases can be a pleasurable experience
- Rich will not be sharing a room with Tom ever again
- Behind every good man is a dead woman
- Oli, like George can perform miracles
- We can all now use splitwise successfully.
4. Things that still need to be considered for future tours
- Roulette
